1. Information handled

City, ZIP-code, and location-page requests are used to retrieve geographic and wind-forecast results. Saved locations, display units, and gust-alert thresholds currently remain in browser storage on your device. Clearing browser data may remove them.

Hosting and security infrastructure may process IP address, browser and device details, timestamps, requested pages, referring pages, approximate region, and diagnostic events to deliver the Site, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures.

2. Weather and location providers

My Wind Gauge sends the place name or coordinates needed for a forecast to Open-Meteo and its geocoding service. Open-Meteo states that its API infrastructure may process IP addresses, requested URLs, and coordinates for maintenance, misuse prevention, and troubleshooting, subject to its Terms and Privacy information. The Site does not request continuous background location access.

3. Cookies, local storage, and advertising

The Site uses device-local storage for features you request, including saved locations and alert thresholds. Third-party advertising tags are currently disabled. Before personalized or measurement advertising is enabled, the Site will provide any legally required consent controls and update this Notice with active vendors and choices.

If Google advertising is activated, Google and its partners may use cookies, IP addresses, web beacons, or similar technologies subject to your choices and applicable law. Learn more in Google’s partner-sites notice and manage personalization through Google Ads Settings.

4. Disclosure and retention

Information may be processed by hosting, security, weather-data, monitoring, and future advertising providers as necessary to provide their services. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

Device-local preferences remain until you remove them. Infrastructure logs are retained according to provider and operational requirements. My Wind Gauge does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Your choices

You may remove saved locations and alert settings in the Site or clear browser storage. Browser controls can restrict cookies. Where applicable, additional access, deletion, correction, or opt-out rights will be honored after reasonable verification.

6. Children and changes

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect their personal information. This Notice may be updated as features, vendors, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.

7. Contact

Privacy questions may be sent through the contact method published by the Site operator. Do not send sensitive personal information through an unsecured channel.
